If you want to get things done, avoid the drama. In communities especially it can be quite easy to get wrapped up in talk and discussions. I have watched it time and again when good volunteers eager to get involved get trapped in debate.

I wish I could point to a specific cause or reason that some people seem to enjoy this debating and this “do nothing" attitude. Unfortunately I cannot put my finger on any one cause. But even without a reason it’s still a massive problem. There is no quicker way to push eager and excited volunteers out of a community then to overwhelm them with meaningless argument and debate.

I’m hoping to spend some time figuring out the best way to avoid this drama and to keep active, interested people doing what they love. It’s unfortunate to think about avoiding certain people or staying clear from other volunteers, but when those negative, pessimistic attitudes are detrimental to the community they must be avoided…at all costs. Don’t be one of them. Avoid the drama.
