I'm accustomed to living the startup life. I’ve grown familiar with being the underdog. I’ve come to terms with the fact that other companies have more money, more resources, and possibly more experience than I have. Often I tend to objectify these larger businesses as “giants". These are the industry leaders, the stalwarts, the bastions of the market space.
But I’ve realized something as I’ve lived to this startup life. Being old does not imply being the best. Being gigantic in size does not imply being the best. Having more money, more resources does not imply being the best. The important thing, the thing which will make you stand apart, stand above, and be the industry leader is the quality of your work, the attention to detail, and the relationships you have with your customers.
So bring on the giants, bring on the sleepy, lethargic, slow-moving businesses of yesteryear; and let’s compete on what really matters. We will not be afraid of giants. We will not let fear intimidate us and keep us from being the absolute best we can be. Watch as we listen to others, as we grow in our experience and expertise, and as we prove our value. Watch us, because were coming. And may the best business win.
