Too many people think of social media as a megaphone into which they scream their ideas and philosophies. Too many people think their opinion is the only one that matters and it is their prerogative to share this genius with the rest of the world. Social media can be a difficult skill to master. And yes, I think it is a skill. If you want to be good at something you have to practice. You have to learn. You have to have a teachable spirit. If you are willing to watch from others around you. Willing to acknowledge (publicly) when you don’t know something then you will find success.
The best way to show a teachable spirit and a willingness to listen is through interacting with others. Don’t turn your social media channels into a one-way conversation. Interact with others. Learn from others, ask questions, grow. Don’t listen just so you can respond. That’s not really listening…that’s waiting. Your interactions will lead to great things. Your interactions are what will make you better. Use your social media the right way. Interact.
